³⁰ But if the Lord brings about something totally new, and the earth opens its mouth^(A) and swallows them, with everything that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the realm of the dead,^(B) then you will know that these men have treated the Lord with contempt.^(C)”

³⁸ About ten days later, the Lord struck^(A) Nabal and he died.

⁶ He followed the ways of the kings of Israel,^(A) as the house of Ahab had done, for he married a daughter of Ahab.^(B) He did evil in the eyes of the Lord.
